10 tricks for perfect disguise pimples

A sudden pimple on the eve of an important event is a situation that many people are familiar with. Panic is not a good helper, but proper makeup techniques can work wonders. We have a mini-guide that will help you conceal imperfections as if they never existed.

Even if you are not a professional makeup artist, it is possible to hide local inflammation. The key is to follow a step-by-step algorithm and avoid overloading your skin with unnecessary layers.

Mini-guide: What to do if you need to quickly "erase" a pimple
1. Preparation is the key to success
Never apply makeup to a "bare" pimple. First, gently cleanse your skin and apply a light moisturizer. If the inflammation is flaky, gently remove the dry particles with a damp cotton swab.

2. The magic of color (color correction)
If the pimple is bright red, a regular flesh-colored concealer may not be effective. Use a green corrector to neutralize the red pigment. Apply a small amount to the center of the inflammation and blend the edges.

3. Thick concealer
Apply a thick concealer in the color of your skin over the corrector. Important: choose a product with a high matte texture.

 10 tricks for perfect concealing:

  1. Do not use your fingers. A small synthetic brush is the best tool for spot concealing. Your fingers warm up the product, which makes it too mobile and causes it to slide off the pimple.
  2. The "pounding" technique. Never smudge the concealer! Pump it into the skin with a tapping motion of the pad of your finger or brush - so the coating will be denser.
  3. The right lighting. Paint in daylight. What seems perfect in the bathroom under a yellow lamp, on the street can look like a "plaster".
  4. The rule of the "dry stick". If the pimple is very inflamed, apply to it for 5 minutes a cotton pad soaked in salicylic acid or just in ice water - this will slightly reduce the swelling.
  5. Layering is the enemy. Don't try to cover everything with a thick layer. It's better to use two thin layers of concealer with an intermediate drying stage.
  6. Use a minimum amount of powder. Don't apply a thick layer of powder over a pimple, as it will settle in the pores and accentuate the skin's texture. Use powder only to set the makeup, applying it lightly with a brush.
  7. Use a setting spray. To ensure that your makeup stays in place throughout the evening, spray your face with a setting spray from a distance of 30 cm.
  8. Distract attention. If the concealer is not perfect, focus on something else: bright lipstick or expressive eyeliner will help to divert the attention of others.
  9. Choose non-comedogenic products. If you have regular acne problems, check the ingredients of the concealer to ensure that it does not contain oils that can clog pores.
  10. The key is to cleanse your skin. As soon as you get home, remove your makeup using a hydrophilic oil or micellar water. Decorative cosmetics do not like the "greenhouse effect" on inflamed areas.

Expert advice:
Remember: a pimple is a temporary phenomenon. Even if you haven't been able to hide it 100%, don't give in to the temptation to apply ten more layers of foundation. A natural skin texture always looks better than a "layer cake" of makeup. Be confident in yourself, because most of the time, others don't even notice what we're so focused on!

If your breakouts are chronic, the best way to manage them is to consult a dermatologist rather than trying to hide them under a layer of concealer.
